Question to the U1300 Krankenwagon owners,
Could one of you explain how the box heater works on the 80's models
U1300 ambulance box?
Does it have a thermostat control?---Is it 24volt electric/diesel fired?
---How loud are they? --What brand are they?
How much fuel do they consume? Where do they pull their fuel from? Own tank
or main fuel tank?
---How much maintenance do they require?
Thanks, in advance,--curious

List,
I have a complete steering column bracket,--steering wheel--steering
shaft with universal joint that attaches to steering box on frame---off a
1991 FL-419, SEE tractor---NOS takeoff. Ready to bolt onto a 406-416 diesel,
bad boy mog or 404 conversion.
Contact me if anyone is interested.--This is a shameless plug for my
parts--- I'm clearing out. Also have a UG2/27, 1977, 6 speed tranny and
flywheel and clutch with PP, out of my old 416 that went to Mike Rowe. As
well as a 1980, MB4/94 disc brake rear end with complete drive shaft and
torque tube still attached--missing a rotor and caliper and hub on one
side.--(Has 150 hours on unit.)--Tranny needs repair with seals and 2
synchro's---gears are all good.

Hi Terry,
Just for grins, what are you looking to get out of the tranny?

I'm using straight 30 weight for the motor.

The air cleaner under the hood uses 1 quart of motor oil. Take out
the bottom part by unhooking three latches, run some solvent (or even
gasoline) through the bottom part to clean it all up and then right
away pour your one quart of oil over the newly cleaned mesh. (Of
course don't leave any solvent in there!) Note, that if you leave the
nice clean mesh exposed to the air for long it will happily start
rusting, so re-lubricate it right away.
For all these questions you should order the "Unimog 404 instruction
manual". Scott has them over at Expedition Imports for around $30.
They are well worth it.
Thanks,
Mike
